Omg yum! This is THE place to come to if you're feeling like a hungry hungry hippo! At dinner, 12€ gets you ALL YOU CAN EAT dumplings, noodles, galettes, And spring rolls.
If it's your first time, service can be a little confusing and perhaps even seem rude. Don't take it personally though. The staff are prob just used to ppl coming in knowing the deal and what it's all about. Anywho, for 12€ at dinner (even cheaper at noon), you get 2 spring rolls, unlimited grilled Chinese dumplings (you can choose what kind or an assortment), 2 Chinese galettes, and a delicious bowl of noodles/soup of your choosing. I am a dumplings kind of girl and originally was going to pass on the noodles, but I'm super glad that I didn't cuz they were honestly super super delicious! Better than ones I've had in specialty noodles places. I went with the pork ones btw.
The 2 veggie spring rolls were required (can't opt out), and obv they're in there to fill you up a bit. The dumplings were ok, not the best ever but aight. The galettes were also just ok - we asked for an assortment (as with the dumplings) but it was kind of hard telling the different fillings apart. The pork noodles were the standout for me. Wash it all down with a large Tsingtao beer.
The dishes may all come out in a super random order, whichever was ready first so sometimes the servers can be a little confused as to who's had what already. They really get you in and out of here quickly but that's not really a problem. You come here to fill your belly! -

Chinese food may seem fresh, but everything taste like pork. The limited 12 euro menu seems like a good deal but you're probably better off getting a kebab around the corner. The service was great and that's why they deserve a three star rating.

I hesitate between two and three stars here.
I used to frequent Chez Van to get my Chinese noodle soup fix. The 12€ dinner menu (only 10€ at lunch) was copious: a beef- or pork-filled Chinese pancake (galette) that arrives steaming hot and incredibly juicy, then a round of pork or beef dumplings (slightly too thick but extremely delicious--particularly the pork ones, as the beef variety tends to be dry). Both of these are best dipped in the sauce you mix yourself: dark soy sauce, vinegar, and some homemade chili oil if you want to add fire. Then a full bowl of noodles in soup (beef, chicken, pork or vegetarian) that is easy to down without the aforementioned accoutrements, with an al dente udon texture and homey broth. You could also choose sautéed noodles, or their special pork noodle dish that's served dry and tepid with cucumbers--slightly sweet and just as filling. All dishes go well with their giant 3.80€ pitcher of unsweetened iced tea.
Thing is, I came to Chez Van in the first place just for these homemade chewy noodles...and now they're gone.
My partner and I sat down and ordered the menu, surprised to see that they had added spring rolls to the mix (two each), but had kept the same price. Perhaps this was because they charge for any food left on your plate (noted in bold on the menu). Then came the galettes, then the dozen dumplings (just as good, just as many). And then the noodles. Homemade? Yeah right. These are the same cheap, uniform noodles you can pick up at Carrefour. No wonder they didn't have to raise their prices--the quality went from "made with love" to freeze-dried. The sauce and soup is still excellent, I'll give them that. But if you go, go for the galettes and dumplings. Don't waste your time on the noodles. -

We came to this restaurant since I was craving soup and it was close to our hotel. The food was good, we ordered the beef soup, a chicken dish, beef dish and fish dish. (I call it dish since it was in French and I can't read French). Service was good as well.

It's crazy the amount of food you get here. It's 12€ p/person and you get as starters spring rolls (2 each), a dumpling like round pastry filled with pork (1 each), pork or beef filled dumplings (6 each I think.. Loads) -- these were a bit too doughy for me, as in a lot more dough than I'm used to but I think this is the style of Taiwanese dumplings. They're also homemade. After thst you get a choice of a bowl of noodles -- soup or dry, we had the dry egg noodles with beef mince. Other options are plain with sesame oil, or stir fried. All are large portions. There is soya sauce, vinegar and really good chilli oil on the table at your disposal. If you somehow finish these and want more they will give you more for free. Crazy. I think the rule is one more round but I'm not sure. We couldn't finish it all. In fact, we didn't eat for a while after this! The service was friendly and the decor was casual, nothing fancy but was clean. Loos are a bit run down but still clean.
